Business Challenge

Post-pandemic, the way that this £228m turnover law firm was doing business had changed; print volumes had dropped, digital collaboration had increased, and there was a much greater focus on sustainability. With the existing managed print agreements drawing to an end, Stephenson Harwood tasked Aura with re-casting their London office print provision to better match the needs of the organisation.

Important considerations included enhancing user experience by improving reliability, ease, security and reduced carbon footprint. Key outcomes were identified, including better usage data availability to govern future print function decisions and an account management service to drive ongoing savings through further improvements.

Aura Solution

The Aura team devised a tailored print function solution precisely to meet the needs of the business: a new print fleet of 28 best-in-class devices was specified, along with enterprise print management software delivering pull print functionality for document security and ease of use from any device. In addition, rules were implemented to help keep print volumes, and toner and paper use, to the lowest possible level; both environmental credentials and cost control are the outcomes, here.

Following the installation of the London office’s solution, Aura has rolled out the solution to several global offices. Following the successful print deployment, Aura have gone on to roll out a global digital signage solution and are developing proposals for additional workspace technology solutions.

This rationalisation resulted not only in a 25% decrease in the size of the print estate but a 28% cost saving overnight. In addition, when the reduced print volumes are considered along with the Printreleaf – offsetting printed pages by supporting reforestation and more efficient devices – the organisation’s impact on the environment was cut by 67%.

After implementation, the availability of print data on a custom dashboard enables the overall picture of the solution’s efficacy to be seen at a glance and the information used to underpin decision making; this enables tweaks to be made to ensure continued best value and performance.
